If you are having trouble moving past images. Or if you have remaining feelings of loss of control, helplessness, or shame following your birth experience then therapy is for you. You can move past the emotions and thoughts that are keeping you from joy and confidence in you and your body.

The most common symptoms of postpartum depression (not all have to be present):
- Frequent crying
- Feelings of guilt
- Irritability/rage
- Low mood
- Negative thoughts
- Feelings of failure
- Fatigue
- Anxiety
- Withdrawing from others
The most common symptoms are (not all have to be present):
- constant worry
- feelings of dread
- Racing thoughts
- Difficulty sleeping or eating
- Inability to rest
- Physical symptoms of autonomic arousal (i.e. heart racing, sweats, muscle tension, etc.)
Good news, post partum anxiety and depression are treatable with help you will be well.
Therapy will help you to address expectations of motherhood and to change thoughts and beliefs that are leading to distress. A variety of coping skills will be introduced to assist you to feel better. I provide a no judgement and caring space for you to process any thought or feeling.

Postpartum depression or anxiety can start anytime in the first year after having a baby and then continue up to 3 years postpartum if not treated by a qualified professional.
You just need to know that good moms have scary thoughts. The thoughts don’t define you as a mother. Therapy helps you get the thoughts out. There is no judgement and most likely your thoughts are fear thoughts for the safety of your baby. It is your maternal instincts on hyperdrive. With therapy the thoughts will lose there power.
